The best 11 and 12 year old male and female amateur boxers from all over Great Britain are gearing up for the fourth Bristol Box Cup - a competition organised by Downend Amateur Boxing Club.

The event, which is taking place at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College WISE campus will see two days competition on Saturday 3rd with the Grand Finals on Sunday 4th June 2017.

Feel Good Friday!

At the end of a good week what better way to kick off the weekend than have a 'feel good Friday'!

We treated everyone to a breakfast sarnie of their choice and it was a welcome surprise.

Explains Operations Manager Stuart Knight: 

"We'd had an excellent trading week and the team here always give their all. We thought it would be a nice gesture to say thank you and recognise their efforts by having a little breakfast get together, and it went down really well.

"We've been winning lots of new contracts and everyone is working really hard so It was good to take a bit of time out and socialise before the start of another busy day.  It is certainly something we will certainly be repeating in the future."

Vacancy for: Road Sweeper or JetVac Tanker Driver

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become either a Road Sweeper or JetVac Tanker Driver, driving Class 2 HGV Road Sweeper or Tanker to various locations in South West of England to carry out:

•    Road Sweeping activities.
•    Reactive drainage/sewer maintenance work.
•    Operation of high pressure jetting equipment.
•    Operation of vacuum tanker.
•    Clearing of blocked drainage.
•    Occasional night work. 
•    Waste collection and disposal.

New appointment

PMG Services are pleased to announce the appointment of Aidan Baker as their latest apprentice.  16 year old Aidan from Keynsham will be hands on in the workshop learning all aspects of HGV mechanics and expects to qualify in three years. 

The apprenticeship is partnered with S&B Automotive College and marks the second time PMG Services have taken on an apprentice.

Aidan is a keen rugby player who has played front row for Keynsham Rugby Club for the past five years. His apprenticeship will start on the 27^th June once he has completed his GCSE’s.

Are you an experienced workshop manager with a hands-on approach looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to join an expanding specialist vehicle hire company in Bristol that’s going places?

PMG Services is a family owned business based in St Philips that rewards hard work and offers excellent career prospects. We operate a large fleet of road sweepers, tankers and a state of the art treatment plant to recycle road sweeper residues and gully waste.  

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a senior HGV fitter role and good management and organisational skills as the job involves managing 5 fitters in a friendly working environment.

Core hours are Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings on a rota basis plus some overtime when needed.

Duties will include: 

• Co-ordinate all maintenance and repair activity and efficient work allocation.
• Keeping the fleet of vehicles up to the VOSA standards.
• Overseeing the work of all mechanics/fitters making sure that accurate records of work are recorded and monitor/report on staff hours and overtime.
• Make sure that weekend staff have clear work instructions and produce a schedule for weekend work.
• Offering technical support to both staff and external clients.
• Look at continuous improvements.
• Responsible for ensuring company health & safety policies/procedures are followed.
• Delivery of health & safety toolbox talks and training.
• Responsible for the maintenance of tools and equipment within the workshop.
• Deliver a good housekeeping regime.
• Keep accurate records of all work undertaken both internal and external.
• Update and monitor company vehicle maintenance schedules and defect logs.
• Liaison with the Transport Manager to schedule PMG vehicle maintenance and repair as per schedules.
• Ensure best value is achieved for all parts and costs associated with the workshop.

General:

• Must be approachable, friendly and able to manage conflict in a positive way.
• An effective influencer at all levels.
• Team leader
• Experience from a similar environment needed.
• Able to work well under pressure and can prioritise effectively.
• Must be computer literate.
• Experience with health and safety systems.
• Class 1 HGV Licence is beneficial for this role.
