Top Quality Certification for PMG
PMG has achieved ISO 9001 certification which is recognised worldwide as the international benchmark for quality within an organisation.
By achieving our ISO 9001 certification, PMG is able to demonstrate to customers and suppliers that the systems we have in place meet the high standards set out by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
Said Operations Manager Stuart Knight: “PMG’s continuing success is all down to ensuring we deliver the highest quality of service to customers at all times. To achieve this we have to ensure the right systems and processes are in place. For the ISO 9001 certification we had to demonstrate our dedication and commitment to meeting our customers’ needs, operating efficient management processes and delivering consistent, good quality products and services.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone here at PMG who worked so hard to make sure everything was in place to ensure we achieved this certification.”

Falling Leaves
Have you ever wondered what happens to all of those autumn leaves after they have been swept up from the roads?
They get recycled and turned into compost!
Here at PMG we have our own recycling facility where we process up to 25 tonnes of road sweeping and gully waste each year. In addition to processing the waste from our own fleet of vehicles we have contracts with Bristol City, South Gloucestershire and Bath Councils along with major highways infrastructure company Skanska and a whole host of blue chip construction companies.
None of the waste managed by us is sent to landfill. Sand and aggregate is graded and separated out for re-use, metal is sold-on and litter and oversized non organic waste goes to a company that turns it into refuse derived fuel (RDF) which is used for power generation.

Feel Good Friday!
Pete's a happy chappy |
At the end of a good week what better way to kick off the weekend than have a 'feel good Friday'!
We treated everyone to a breakfast sarnie of their choice and it was a welcome surprise.
Explains Operations Manager Stuart Knight:
"We'd had an excellent trading week and the team here always give their all. We thought it would be a nice gesture to say thank you and recognise their efforts by having a little breakfast get together, and it went down really well.
"We've been winning lots of new contracts and everyone is working really hard so It was good to take a bit of time out and socialise before the start of another busy day. It is certainly something we will certainly be repeating in the future."

PMG ON THE BALL
PMG are delighted to be sponsoring the St Brendan’s Rugby Club first team once again this season.
We love the look of this year’s strip and proud to see our
logo on the shirts. We hope you play as good as you look!
And we’re supporting the players of the future too. We sponsored the Gordano Sharks under 9’s
rugby team tour hoodies for their recent mini-tour to North Devon where they
played Topsham, Teignmouth and Honiton and won all matches. Well
done to all involved including our own Operations Manager Stuart Knight who was
one of the parents who went along to supervise.

PMG Appoints New Workshop Manager
Our new workshop manager Zac Simmons has returned to the job he loves most – looking after municipal hire vehicles.
Zac and his team of three technicians are responsible for keeping PMG Services vehicles in tip top mechanical condition, ready to take on whatever challenge our customers give us!
From starting out with just one sweeper in 1990 The PMG fleet of vacuum tankers, gully tankers and sweepers has grown to 45 with more on the way.
Originally from Northampton, Zac has over 10 years’ experience working for some of the leading contract hire company’s including MHS, Go-Plant and Specialist Fleet Services. He started on the tools working in the workshop looking after local authority contract hire vehicles and worked his way up through the ranks to workshop manager.
He relocated to Bristol in 2014 to be with his wife Lynette and joined Mercedes van dealership City West as service manager before moving on to Sapphire Vehicle Services at Emerson Green. There he managed one of the company’s largest regional workshop operations looking after the Sainsbury’s supermarket fleet.
But Zac’s heart has always been in municipal vehicles, so when he saw the advertisement for the PMG position he jumped at the chance.
He said: “I’m delighted to back in the sector I want to be in, the municipal side of things. PMG is an growing business with lots of potential and I am really enjoying being part of the team here. My first priority is to modernise the workshop and put in systems to ensure that we continue to meet the future servicing requirements of the growing PMG fleet.”
Commented operations manager Stuart Knight: “We are delighted that Zac has chosen to join PMG for the next phase of his career. He brings with him a vast amount of knowledge and expertise of working within our sector and I am sure he will have a great deal to contribute to the continued success of our award winning company.”
In his spare time Zac enjoys watching rugby and is a keen Northampton Saints supporter (we won’t hold that against him!) He also enjoys renovating garden machinery and DIY.

PMG Wins Bristol Environmental Business of the Year Award
It’s official! We are the most environmental business in Bristol.
Managing Directors Patrick and Bernadette McGuinness, Workshop Manager Paul McGuiness, Operations Manager Stuart Knight and Accounts Supervisor Louise Gay all went to the Bristol Business Awards Dinner on Wednesday night.
We entered our state of the art recycling facility for the award which treats road sweeper residues and gully waste and despite stiff competition were delighted to hear our company’s name announced as the winner.
Judges were impressed by the fact that in 2015 PMG was instrumental in keeping 12,500 tons of road sweeping waste out of landfill and will be recycling and diverting from landfill a further 18,000 tons in 2016. The process separates the waste out into sand, graded aggregate and organic/plant waste and litter which is all then re-cycled enabling us to achieve ‘zero waste to landfill’.
It was a great night and we couldn’t be more proud of our achievement.
We have a brilliant team here at PMG and we’re looking forward to winning many more awards in the future.

PMG on Rainbow Duty
If you’ve ever wondered who cleans up after the annual charity Rainbow Run held each June in Bristol where brightly coloured powder paint and tickertape is thrown at participants as they complete the 5k course – we’ve got the answer – it’s us!
A PMG sweeper team is on hand ready to spring into action when the day’s event is over. This year 3,100 people including Bristol born comedian Justin Lee Collins turned up to combine having fun with raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West charity. Their pristine white outfits were transformed into individual works of art as trained marshals daubed powder paint on them at five different stations along the route.
The event raised over £130,000 and took place on the picturesque Clifton Downs. But it wasn’t just the runners and walkers that ended up daubed in rainbow colours. Along the route roads and grass were also sprinkled with the 100% natural, non-toxic and biodegradable paint which is where we came in. It was our job to sweep up the tickertape and jet wash everything down to make sure that all traces of paint were gone. The contents of the sweeper were returned to be processed at our specialist on site recycling facility.
In her thank you message to us, enclosing this lovely photograph, Children’s Hospice South West Events Fundraiser Emma McKeown wrote: “Team PMG - thank you so much for your energy, enthusiasm and continued support of Rainbow Run. We had a fantastic day with over 3100 participants and we hope to raise over £130,000 from the event which is just incredible. Your driver was fab as always and helped ensure we left the site clean and tidy after the thousands descended on us!”

PMG Services Named a Finalist in Bristol Business Awards
PMG’s significant contribution to
protecting the environment has been recognised in this year’s Bristol Business
Awards.
Our multi-million-pound specialist waste management plant in
Bristol processes 18,000 tons of road sweeping and gully tanker waste. 100% of
all materials are recycled with nothing going to landfill. We are one of very
few companies in the UK to meet the Environment Agency’s approved quality
protocol for end of waste criteria which means we can sell our sand and
aggregate for re-use by construction companies in applications including pipe
bedding and road building.
All of the organic material goes for onwards treatment where
it is mixed with sewage sludge to make Non-Pas 100 compost. Oversize material
and litter is sent on to a company who turns it into refuse derived fuel (RDF)
which is used for power generation.
We are one of four companies shortlisted for the
Environmental Business Award and will find out who will lift the trophy at an
awards dinner at Ashton Gate in Bristol on 29 June.
